A fundamental correlation is proposed for designing of optimal hardenability steel depending on size and form of actual machine components. IQ process decreases distortion and corrosion of steel parts after hardening and eliminates quench crack formation. The technology is environment friendly since it uses plain water instead of oil and polymers as a quenchant. 124 pp. Englisch.
