A study of the biochemical composition of the various extracts from OFI snowshoes (powder or gel) and fruits showed the presence of high levels of secondary metabolites (total phenols, flavonoids and tannins). These extracts may therefore be effective in inhibiting the development of pathogenic microorganisms or the growth of certain plants. According to the DPPH method, they also have significant antioxidant activity.
