Presents, in the ultimate collectible format imaginable, Adel Abdessemed's "L'Age D'Or". The Age of Gold/The Golden Age, which have subtle differences in meaning, and apply to the work of the artist as well as his time as an Algerian and as a peripatetic expatriate-artist. Born in 1971 in Constantine, Algeria, Abdessemed studied in Algiers, Lyon, Paris, and New York. He remains based in Paris, and also spends time abroad, notably in New York City - or wherever else suits him (such as Doha). One of the most brilliant artists of our time, he bears witness to his time without feeling bound by it (after all, he also enjoys the prestigious patronage of the glamorous Paloma Picasso, Pablo's daughter, among other elite-supporters). Working across a wide range of media, Abdel Abdessemed transforms local, familiar materials and quotidian yet arresting images that he transforms into highly charged works. He has described his personal mission as "an art by an artist of action". As such, they are known for their grand gestures, unmistakable political slant, and symbolic resonance. His lapidary draftsmanship, in particular, is exquisite yet daring: "Taking his materials with great care, he is nevertheless provocative in their use" (Publisher's blurb). An absolute "must-have" title for Adel Abdessemed collectors. This title is a contemporary art and photography classic. This is one of very few copies of the Artist Book still available online and is in especially fine condition: Clean, crisp, and bright, a pristine beauty. Please note: Copies available online have flaws ("Good", "Very Good", because they were actually pored over and used). This is surely an accessible and lovely alternative. A rare copy thus. One of the most brilliant artist/photographers of our time. A fine collectible set. ISBN 883662720X.…
