Taking him two decades to write, and, unlike works such as The Count of Monte Cristo and The Three Musketeers, without any collaboration, he thought that it would one day rival such works as Homer's Iliad and Virgil's Aeneid. However, it has never, until now, been presented into English. In Isaac Laquedem, the history of the world is unfolded through the eyes of the Wandering Jew. The first volume opens on Maundy Thursday, 1469, when a mysterious, strangely dressed traveller enters Rome by the Appian Way, a learned polyglot who is incredibly strong and apparently invulnerable. Presenting himself before Pope Paul II, he is immediately recognised as the Wandering Jew, who has been walking the world for nearly fifteen hundred years. This item is printed on demand.
