The author is a lifetime student of the Bible, having grown up in church as the eldest son of a preacher. He has served as a Sunday school teacher, children's church director, church choir director, and has delivered a number of evangelical sermons. His education includes graduating summa cum laude from what is now Houston Christian University, and then graduating from the University of Texas Medical School in Galveston. After graduating from medical school, he acquired advanced communications training at Bob Jones University, and then pursued the study of New Testament Greek at Gulf Coast Bible College, now Mid-America Christian University.
