The Golden Age of Comic Books gave birth to the superhero archetype, and many well-known characters were introduced to the world. But the golden age was not so golden unless you were a white man in tights or in a big fedora with a scarf over the bottom half of your face.GRANMA'S HAND asks, "What if there were many Black superheroes in the early days of superheroes, but they never received the publicity or accolades they deserved due to the reluctance of the media to tell the stories about heroic Black men, women and children? Due to the oppression of racist police and politicians?GRANMA'S HAND explores the "Golden Age" of comics, from the 1930s through the 1950s and imagines a world in which Black heroes fight against Nazis, mad scientists, sinister cultists, the mafia, the police that terrorize Black neighborhoods, and even the media that paints a picture of Black people as ignorant, ugly, lazy, criminal and buffoonish.Superheroes in Granma's Hand include hard-boiled detectives, criminals forced to become heroes to fight against an oppressive and brutal system, veterans of war, forced to keep up the fight even when they return home and brilliant gadgeteers rocketing into battle with their jet packs against bloodthirsty vampires in the Ku Klux Klan. This book contains all you will need for adventuring in a world where your fists and wit may be all that stands between you and certain doom.GRANMA'S HAND is a role playing game of superheroes and science fantasy with a dark, gritty feel.
