Reprint Edition. Hardbound 8vo (8.25 inches tall) 341 pages. Illustrated endpapers. Description: Dust jacket art probably by Marguerite Kimse. The Grosset and Dunlap reprints of Terhune's dog stories were issued in two different formats. This listing is for a book from the earlier issue which was done in cloth with the head of a collie blind stamped on the front cover. The endpapers feature two dogs on the left hand page with a stream or road separating them from a single 'windswept' collie on the right hand side. The later issue featured dust jacket art by noted wildlife artist Bob Kuhn with the endpaper scene reproduced (in black and white) from one his paintings. Those bindings were either solid color cloth or 'tweed' with a vignette of two collies running. . Note that the only printed date is the 1922 copyright; this circa early 1940s; both the jacket flap and the title page have wartime compliance statements. ''Heroic and valiant, Lad proves again that he is a valuable and trustworthy member of his family as he demonstrates his supreme love for his owners.'' This is the fifth book in the Sunnybank series. BINDING/CONDITION: blue cloth with blind stamped collie head; the top edge tint is dark blue; a Very Good book, with a Good dust jacket. ISBN: B0114UVTS6.
Zustand: Fair. Acceptable condition. No Dust Jacket (Dogs, Juvenile Fiction) A readable, intact copy that may have noticeable tears and wear to the spine. All pages of text are present, but they may include extensive notes and highlighting or be heavily stained. Includes reading copy only books. Bundled media such as CDs, DVDs, floppy disks or access codes may not be included.

Paperback. Zustand: new. Paperback. The short story collection "Further Adventures of Lad" was penned by American dog breeder and author Albert Payson Terhune. The novel, which was first published in 1922, follows the exploits of Rough Collie Lad, who served as the main character in Terhune's previous book, "Lad: A Dog." The narratives center on Lad's existence on the made-up Sunnybank estate and highlight his bravery, wit, and loyalty. Lad exhibits his steadfast loyalty to his owners through his interactions with humans and other animals. The stories frequently emphasise Lad's capacity to comprehend and react to a variety of circumstances, presenting him as a noble and heroic dog character. A collection of endearing and captivating tales that depict the relationship between people and animals are included in the book. Lad experiences a spectrum of feelings in his journeys, from happiness and fun to bravery and protectiveness. Terhune's stories are distinguished by his profound love for dogs and his conviction in their extraordinary abilities. "Further Adventures of Lad" celebrates the values of loyalty, friendship, and the enduring bond between people and their canine partners, adding to Lad's legacy as a popular literary dog character.
