In den WarenkorbCloth. Zustand: Very Good. No Jacket. 2nd Edition. Hardback. Air Navigation. Slight browning to top and bottom edge of spine. and top edge of cloth. Blue cloth with red lettering. This book was originally written in 1939, and since that time air navigation has suffered many minor changes due to the war. The reprinting of the book has therefore been seized as a welcome opportunity of cutting out obsolete material and adding certain new features. To the beginner, the part of Chapter 1 is devoted to map projections may present some diffiulties, but it should be borne in mind that Mercator's is the main navigational projection, and should be studied carefully, the notes on the other projections being used for references when required. It is is the custom nowadays for polots and observers to know how to swing a compass or calibrate air-speed indicators and altimeters, so those three instruments have been dealt with to the exclusiong of other minor instructments. Only the practice side of compass swinging has been covered. Meteorology should have no place in a book on navigation, but there is no natural law which gives immunity from ice accretion to beginners, so the notes at the end of the last chapter have been retained, in the hope that they may service until the subject can be studied thoroughly. Illustrations. 80 pp. (We carry a wide selection of titles in The Arts, Theology, History, Politics, Social and Physical Sciences. academic and scholarly books and Modern First Editions ,and all types of Academic Literature.).
