Schiller (1759-1805) selbst hingegen tat sich mit dem Werk schwer, so dass es letztendlich nur bei einem Romanfragment blieb. - Vorliegend eine zeitnahe Fortsetzung von Emanuel Friedrich Follenius (1773-1809) als 2. u. 3. Teil zu Schillers Anfang. Es erschienen noch zwei weitere Versuche, das Werk zu beenden u. zwar von C. Morvell (1833) u. von Hanns Heinz Ewers (1922). - Rücken etwas berieben u. leicht fleckig; Seiten tlw. etwas braunfleckig; Anhang papierbedingt gebräunt, sonst ein gutes Expl.

Im einzelnen ging es um den modernen Künstlerroman "Der Dämon des Neids" von Walloth, den psychologischen Roman "Adam Mensch" von Conradi sowie den zweibändigen sozialen Roman "Die Alten und die Jungen" von Alberti. Der Prozeß, dem großangelegte Beschlagnahmungsaktionen und mehrere Hausdurchsuchungen vorangingen, endete mit dem Freispruch des Verlegers und Geldstrafen gegen zwei der Autoren.
