Softcover. Zustand: Good. Oblong quarto. Measuring 11" x 7". String-tied album, lacking the boards. Contains 103 black and white or sepia-toned gelatin silver photographs measuring between 1.5" x 2.5" and 2.5" x 3.75", with captions. Good only album lacking the boards with some chips with near fine photographs. The album begins with a page which reads "Never to be Forgotten are the Persons and Places Pictured in this BookOctober 1938." The photos details trips, many of which are at the seaside, as well as family and friends posing throughout the summer and fall of 1938. Most of the beaches are unidentified but the few places that do have captions are in Florida. The album opens with a photo of crashing waves and another of a Naval blimp flying over the coast. Other photos include young men and women posing on the beach with girls in cheesecake pinup-style poses. They also spent their time taking road trips, hiking, and boating on the coast. The travelers are mentioned by first names only and include Lilian, Brad, Muriel, Norma, Everett, and someone nicknamed "Foo-Foo." They are also captioned frequently as "The Gang," and are seen in numerous pictures posing together at picnics, by a local waterfall, and at the cottage where they stayed. Halfway through the album the captions reveal the group has moved their base of operations to Jensen, Florida and the Florida Keys. These photos show palm trees on the drive to Castle Hill in Jenson and read "miles of this and that to get to Jenson." Another photo shows the "metropolis of Jenson" which features the small center of the rural town. They are seen eating oranges right from the tree, in one photo a man reaches out the window of his car to pick an orange with a caption which reads, "the way it's done." One series of photos shows three men trying to climb a coconut tree with captions that read, "blow me down Al," and "cake eater Will." They spent time in Palm Springs and Miami with photos of a memorial to people who died in the hurricane of 1935 and another of the Bok Singing Tower.
