Zustand: Good. 133 issues. Illustrated throughout from color and b&w photographs. Color pictorial wrappers. 6.5 x 9.5 inches. Two banker boxes. .OCLC Number / Unique Identifier:49480732.Minicam was an American monthly magazine which would change its name to Minicam Photography during World War II. The advent of the Kodak Brownie miniature camera revolutionized the still image at the turn of the century. Bringing the means of reproduction to the wide masses, it paved the way for the democratization of graphic communication. The commercial diffusion of cameras such as the Leica, Contax, Rolleiflex, and others created an international community of photography enthusiasts and a subsequent surge in photography magazines to explore the interests of these "minifans". Issue #2 from 1937 captures the enthusiasm of the moment, "A miniature camera, price $12.50 or cheap at $300, is a passport to high adventure on which there is no closed season. .Listen in on the conversation when two or more minifans foregather. Miniature photography is that truest of all democracies where rank is determined by achievement. If living is the enjoyment of life, and zest comes from doing something different, then the minicam fan lives several lifetimes in one. / Once photography was only for the initiate, costly, laborious and not a little intimidating. The miniature camera has changed all that. Inexpensive, easy to operate, flexible in its uses, the vest pocket minicam has won its hundreds of thousands of loyal fans." .The magazine would offer technical advice, advertisements for the latest products, articles by famous photographers, and a forum for the readers to interact as a community. The Greatest Generation were taking "sex photographs", pet photographs, as well as pictures of dinners, children, travel, and nature well before the era of social media?through the lens of the Minicam you'll find an amazing document of American pop culture in the 1940's.Includes: Minicam.
