Soft cover. Zustand: Good to Very Good. 36th Edition By Publisher. 216 pages. ** Goodreads; Winner of both the Hugo and Nebula Awards, the powerful, classic story about a man who receives an operation that turns him into a genius.and introduces him to heartache. Charlie Gordon is about to embark upon an unprecedented journey. Born with an unusually low IQ, he has been chosen as the perfect subject for an experimental surgery that researchers hope will increase his intelligence-a procedure that has already been highly successful when tested on a lab mouse named Algernon. As the treatment takes effect, Charlie's intelligence expands until it surpasses that of the doctors who engineered his metamorphosis. The experiment appears to be a scientific breakthrough of paramount importance, until Algernon suddenly deteriorates. Will the same happen to Charlie? ** Source for the 1968 CHARLY Movie starring; Cliff Robertson as Charly Gordon, Claire Bloom as Alice Kinian and Lilia Skala as Dr. Anna Straus; ** Source for the Flowers for Algernon 2000 TV Movie starring Matthew Modine and Kelli Williams; ** Source for the Flowers for Algernon 2014 TV Movie starring Grégory Gadebois (Original title: Des fleurs pour Algernon); ** Source for the Flowers for Algernon 2015 TV Mini Series starring Tomohisa Yamashita and Chiaki Kuriyama (Original title: Algernon ni Hanataba wo), the Highest Rated adaption of the Novel; >> Cover creasing; tape residue to interior front cover; Size: 12mo - over 6¾" - 7¾" tall. Draft script for the 1968 film. Copy belonging to uncredited set decorator George R. Nelson, with his name in manuscript ink ("Bob Nelson") on the top right corner of the front wrapper. Based on Daniel Keyes' 1966 novel "Flowers for Algernon," about a 32-year-old bakery worker with an intellectual disability who is approached by two doctors about participating in an experiment that will enhance his mental aptitude. Actor Cliff Robertson also appeared as Charly in a previous adaptation of Keyes' novel, a 1961 television adaptation on the United States Steel Hour, titled "The Two Worlds of Charlie Gordon." Nelson, who is best-known for his work on "The Graduate," "The Manchurian Candidate," "The Getaway," "The Godfather Part II," and "Apocalypse Now," was not credited in the final film, so it must be assumed that he was either involved with it early on, or considered it at some point. Set in Boston. Yellow titled titled wrappers, with credit for screenwriter Stirling Silliphant. Title page present, dated June 30, 1967, noted as copy No. 49 in manuscript ink, with credit for Silliphant and director Ralph Nelson. 128 leaves, with last page of text numbered 126. Mimeograph duplication on eye-rest green stock, rectos only. Pages Near Fine, wrapper Very Good plus, with a ring stain and a few splashes, bound internally with three gold brads.…
