Buch Erstausgabe
Hardcover. Zustand: Good. 1st Edition. First Edition (NAP). Sydney Rosenfeld (1855?1931) was an American playwright who wrote numerous plays, and adapted many foreign plays. Close to fifty of his creations played on Broadway. Including this title, Children of Destiny, which was staged in 1910 with actress Laura Nelson Hall, although it played for less than a month. However it was made into a movie, a silent one, in 1920. Once listed, my copy will be the only one for sale anywhere on the Internet. It is very rare, in fact, to find any of his published plays for sale. The few that I saw, of other titles, were paperbacks. So this is rarer still for being an original Hardcover. It is now over 100 years old and there are, not surprisingly, age-related imperfections. I've provided photographs but here is some verbiage to help you get a clearer picture. Beginning with the covers, you can see that the gilt lettering on the front is still quite bright. You can also see the fairly pronounced darkening on the margins of the front and back cover. The spine is no longer green, it is darkened to brown. The spine ends have slight losses and fraying. The corners have a little bit of rub through. Opening up the book there is a little webbing visible, looking from the side. between the title page and the back of the front free end paper. That is also the case between the rear end paper and the back of the last page of the book. I didn't see any other cracks or webbing between any other pages or anywhere else in the book. Nothing is loose in the book. It is not fragile. So I would say it is fairly well bound. The pages appear to be quite clean although there is age darkening at the margins. I didn't see any writing/underlining anywhere in the book. I didn't see any markings. I saw three or four pages with about a 1/2 inch loss of paper off the bottom edge (see photo), far away from the dialogue. There are a few small creases as well. That's pretty much it for condition. Take a look at the photographs.
