A good copy with some chipping to the upper spine and some fading and edgewear to the covers. The text is very good with some scattered foxing and spotting. The front flyleaf lacks a large piece at the right side.

Early Silas Andrus printing reproducing Ludlow's Code which were the Puritanic Blue Laws governing the early settlements in Connecticut after they he and his fellow settlers broke away from Massachusetts Bay Colony, and drafted the "Fundamental Orders of Connecticut" considered the first Constitution in America. Although circulated in manuscript form after 1672, and after 1702 printed copies were occasionally circulated, Andrus began in 1822 to print and distribute the Blue Laws in order to combat exaggerated claims of the Blue Laws content. These laws touched upon delinquency, cattle stealing, robbery, theft, contempt, and more, but also were quite strict in matters such as disrespecting, or defying parents over the age of 16 (penalty was death), blasphemy (death), manslaughter (death), same-sex sexual relations (death), witchcraft (death), but swearing, or smoking and chewing tobacco in public could be penalized by fines.
