Sieben Beiträge gehen…diesen Fragen nach. Die Fokussierung auf Geltungs- und Auratisierungsaspekte des dominierenden Trägers mittelalterlicher Textkultur legt auch gegenläufige Phänomene frei: Aspekte der Infragestellung und Relativierung oder gar der Fragmentierung und damit des Geltungsverlustes bis hin zur Aufhebung und Zerstörung des Codex. Noch im Prozess der Auflösung eines Codex konnte ihm bzw. Teilen davon durch ein gezieltes "Recycling" indes auch fortdauernde Geltung in veränderten Kontexten - sozusagen jenseits des ursprünglichen Codex - verliehen werden. Die Beiträge stehen in einem dezidiert interdisziplinären Rahmen, der die Bereiche von Geschichte, Germanistik, Byzantinistik, Kunstgeschichte, Liturgiewissenschaft und Musikwissenschaft umfasst. Dabei werden inhaltliche Aspekte gezielt mit Fragen nach Materialität und Medialität der Überlieferungsträger in Verbindung gebracht; zumindest ansatzweise eröffnen sich auch Seitenblicke über die Grenzen des abendländisch-lateinischen Mittelalters hinaus sowie diachrone Perspektiven bis in die (frühe) Neuzeit hinein. - Die Beiträge gehen zurück auf ein Arbeitsgespräch des Mediävistischen Arbeitskreises am 4. und 5.
