Thomas became Bishop of Los Angeles, and was rector of the Catholic University of America in Washington, DC.Matteo Liberatore (1810-1892), Italian Jesuit philosopher, theologian, and writer. He helped popularize the Jesuit periodical Civilta Cattolica, a periodical founded by the Jesuits to defend the cause of the Church and the papacy, and to spread the knowledge of the doctrine of Thomas Aquinas.
