Part of Glashin's English Classics; two volumes in one; 32mo.; Vol. I: pp. i-vii, "Life of the Author;" pp. viii-"Advertisement" from 1794, which is explanatory preface; has 307 additional p., unmarked; calligraphic signature of former owner on front paste-down; much foxing within although paper is strong and of fine quality, only mildly age-toned; front end page is creased as are the upper corners of several pages within. Book II': p. 1 marred by what appears to be biopredation at upper margin but remaining 302 p. are fine. Binding is firm; leather spine and corners are much scuffed with dings and small open tears at edges of spine that may be due to biopredation; gilt lettering on red leather patch on spine is clear; faded red and green patterned boards are much scuffed. This rare book deserved rebinding. on p. therehough boards are much scuffed and leather spine and corners dinged and abraded the binding is firm,

Stored inside a 1924 copy of "The Soul Of Samuel Pepys", patterned boards and blue spine, opens up to page 12 where a 6.5 x 4" section has been neatly removed and lined with brocade, a couple of pieces of foam along the sides to protect the fore-edge book. FORE-EDGE PAINTINGS OF WESTMINSTER ABBEY AND BRIDGE/ST. PAUL'S CATHEDRAL AND BLACKFRIAR BRIDGE. Beautifully detailed.
