Quarter leather and cloth bind. Zustand: Fair. No Jacket. The Personal History of David Copperfield and Bleak House, two books in one, by Charles Dickens, each with 61 illustrations by J. Barnard Hardback, undated but circa 1880, published by Chapman and Hall, London, vi + 437, xi + 440 pages. Octavo/8vo, measures around 7 1/2" by 9 1/4" by 1 7/8". Black quarter-leather and green cloth binding, black lettering to spine. A little puckering to cloth on front board. Bumped and torn corners. Some marking, scuffing and rubbing to binding and some denting to spine. Cracking to outer front hinge and some cracking to inner hinges, more so to front. Front board still attached but very strained. Some slackness to binding but holding and textblock reasonably firm. Red-speckled page edges are very browned, scuffed and heavily marked. Occasional foxing and some other marking to page surfaces, a little pencil numbering to first page of David Copperfield and to rear pastedown but there does not appear to be any further writing, marginalia, underlining, etc. The odd dog-eared page corner.
