Hardcover. Zustand: Good. An 1897 edition of "Crumbs Swept Up" by T. De Witt Talmage, published by the Christian Herald (Louis Klopsch, Bible House, New York). Talmage was one of the most prominent American preachers of the 19th century, a pulpit orator whose influence rivaled Henry Ward Beecher. This collection of essays and reflections represents his popular voice at its most accessible. The real draw here is the binding. The Victorian cloth boards are beautifully decorated with an elaborate gold-and-red fleur-de-lis design on both covers and the spine. This is the kind of book that looks extraordinary on a shelf and captures the Dark Academia aesthetic perfectly. Copyright 1897 by Louis Klopsch. Hardcover, no dust jacket as issued. Boards present well with the decorative design largely intact and vivid. The binding is tight and holds well. Pages show honest age-appropriate tanning to edges and light foxing consistent with a 130-year-old volume (see photos). Interior text pages are readable and complete. Condition: Good. Honest age-related wear throughout, priced accordingly. A handsome piece of late Victorian bookmaking. Shipped with care via USPS Media Mail with tracking. …
