Examples includelegacy information systems migration and WEB-enablingexisting systems. In these types of projects, usingthe entire operational database may not becost-effective and a carefully selected subset may bemore appropriate. The availability of operationaldata and a database schema can significantly reducethe effort required to build an appropriate prototypedatabase to support the project at hand. This workinvestigates how such a prototype database should beconstructed.
