Also covers later travels in the desert and Southern California. His youth and the initial trip to Death Valley cover roughly the first third of the book; the last two-thirds are later travels and adventures throughout the Southwest and Pacific Coast. Illustrated with black & white drawings, and endpapers have a map showing the party's route. 5½ x 8 inches, 524 pages. Basically in very good condition, but with several notable flaws. First, there are liquid stains to the green cloth cover and the bottom of the book block, indicating one or more episodes of exposure to water or other liquid.
