With a frontispiece and thirty-three woodcut illustrations, vignettes and decorations by Ravilious including two plates. Top edge lightly spotted, with a touch of fading to the backstrip cloth, a tiny nick to the head of the lower gutter and a short indeterminate white mark to the upper board. Free endpapers browned, and with some offset browning to two blank preliminary leaves, presumably from where a sheet of paper was once stored. A very good copy. Lacking the dust wrapper.

1st Limited Edition.13.5 x19.5 cm green cloth with gilt stamped titles to the spine and publisher's device blind stamped to the rear. Top edge gilt, other edges uncut, 252[2]pp with woodcuts by Eric Ravilious throughout. The book was produced in a limited edition of 100 which were signed by the author. This is an unnumbered, signed, presentation copy. Some toning to the spine and and the edges of the rear board. There is a little shelf wear and a hint of pushing to the bottom corners. Internally there is uniform toning to both free endpapers but otherwise the book is very clean with only very light dust making to the uncut edges. All in all a good looking signed copy of with the additional attraction of being Eric Ravilious' first foray into book illustration.
