Leather is aged, leaving residual dust when touched. Boards are scuffed and leather worn around edges. Spine ends and outer edges of paper chipped. First two volumes are sunned over spine. Volume one has part of a comic pasted to front fly- other minor penciled notes mark front endpapers of other volumes.

Blind Stamped Blue Cloth Gilt. Zustand: Very Good. Zustand des Schutzumschlags: None. A very good mid-Victorian set. A previous owner's name stamp to the verso of the engraved frontis to each volume, and the original Victorian bookseller's printed paper label to each volume also. Otherwise a remarkably clean and pretty set in the "Bohn's Historical Library" series illustrated with 30 plus portrait engravings and Evelyn's plan of the Dutch Fleet in 1667. In the 150 years since publication the boards have become slightly worn - the head of the spine of Volume II is split twice to the extent of no more than 1/4 " vertically and there are a couple of pinprick holes to the cloth at the base of the smaem volume. The plates are mildly foxed, Altogether however, a very nice set.
