Zustand des Schutzumschlags: dj. First Edition. First Edition. Quarto. REVIEW COPY, with slip laid in. Also laid in are two original black-and-white photographs (4.5 x 6.5 inches) taken by Balzer, with his name stamped on the versos. The first is of a young girl standing in a doorway, sucking on her finger, and can be seen on page 61; the second represents an elderly couple lounging in a field of flowers, and can be seen on page 91. Balzer hopped in an old truck with a couple of cameras and a typewriter, set off to see the United States, and in 18 months traveled over 50,000 miles and saw 47 states. This volume represents his journey, detailing and describing his love for America. Extremities lightly bumped, and a few tiny closed tears and light toning to the jacket, else Near Fine in a Near Fine dust jacket.
