Paperback. Zustand: Fine. Soft Cover. Flesk Publications 2011. Book condition: VF - Very Fine. Black & White illustrations. This fifth volume of Various Drawings showcases a generous selection of private art and commissions, along with a smattering of previously published pieces, all created by Mark Schultz over the past two years. A wealth of sketches, preliminaries, studies and finished art, this will appeal to longtime fans of Mark's work, as well as those discerning souls who seek only the best examples of modern imaginative illustration to add to their personal collections. Despite being an acknowledged modern master of pencil and brush and ink, Schultz has never stopped expanding his visual vocabulary, never shied away from experimenting, never slowed in his relentless pursuit of graphic Nirvana. Nor has he forgotten his first loves and obsessions: pulp and noir-fueled dames, otherworldly SF and fantasy pinups, slavering dinosaurs and fearsome women, gleaming spaceships and alluring cosmic femmes. 48 pages. Size: 9" x 11" (220mm x 280mm). (0.3). Mark Schultz (illustrator).…

Paperback. Zustand: Fine. Soft Cover. Flesk Publications 2007. Book condition: VF - Very Fine. Black & White illustrations. This third volume of the ongoing Various Drawings series focuses on Mark Schultz's most recent works and unpublished art. Showcasing only his best in this annual collection, he demonstrates a continued ability to refine his craft through a variety of formats: private commissions, illustrations, comics material, and rare sketchbook art. New this year is a sixteen-page color section, featuring color roughs for his paintings and tinted experiments. The drawings include new pieces featuring Xenozoic Tales favorites Jack Tenrec and Hannah Dundee, plus a selection of recent comic book covers. Also included are preliminaries for his upcoming Storms at Sea storybook, unpublished brush and ink roughs for book illustration assignments, and more--65 pieces of art rendered variously in pencil, Wolff pencil, and brush and ink. The Various Drawings series continues to present Schultz's otherwise unseen privately commissioned works, and, as usual, includes a spectacular gatefold centerpiece. 48 pages.
