India's rise is attracting increasing interest among policy makers, academics, and above all, Indians themselves, who are proud to be part of a resurgent India. The country is making advancements in all spheres and a number of socio-economic sectors and poverty alleviation programmes have caught attention of developing nations. However, before one join in the chorus of celebration it might be desirable to take in to account of stock of poverty, unemployment and inequality and other development issues of our country. It recognizes India's achievements but sees a tremendous potential that is yet to be unleashed. What is needed is an India-led process of coordination and integration of the different reforms, combining those in the economic and institutional regime with the many initiatives that are actually being undertaken in more functional areas, as covered in many Indian strategy reports.
