First edition, second issue. 8vo (23 x 14.5 cm): (6) (title, dedication, advert, index), viii, 408, 32pp. Numerous copper-engraved illustrations extending into the margins. Lack front free endpaper. Good copy in contemporary calf backed boards, ends of spine worn. The pages are uncut which…is important in this book as many of the copper engraved diagrams extend well into the margins beyond the text block. The only other copy of this book I have seen was cut with loss to parts of these diagrams. Thomas Malton the elder (1726-1801) was an architectural draughtsman. His more common book "A Compleat Treatsie on Perspective" was first published a year later in 1775. This appears to be a second issue when compared to the Bodleian copy.
