All the depositions and witness reports as recorded of the events of her disgrace. Notes: The "George and Caroline scandal" refers to the highly public and acrimonious relationship between King George IV and his wife, Queen Caroline of Brunswick. The scandal's climax was a sensational trial in 1820 after George IV became king and attempted to divorce Caroline, based on accusations of adultery during her time living abroad with a close companion, Bartolomeo Pergami. Both parties engaged in behavior that embarrassed the other. George IV paraded his mistresses as haughty and aloof in the public eye. But the transcripts make good reading.
