In den WarenkorbPaperback. Zustand: New. Print on Demand. This book delves into the complex and often misunderstood nature of human motivation, challenging the prevailing notion that self-interest is the sole driving force behind our actions. The author, drawing on a rich philosophical tradition, explores the idea of disinterestedness, arguing that the human mind is naturally capable of caring for others in the same way it cares for itself. The book takes the reader on a fascinating journey through the workings of the mind, examining how our perceptions, memories, and imaginations shape our understanding of ourselves and others. It probes the relationship between personal identity and the feeling of self-interest, questioning the common assumption that we must inherently prioritize our own welfare. By carefully analyzing the nature of pleasure, pain, and the role of imagination in our motivation, the author offers a compelling case for a more nuanced and expansive view of human nature. The book's insights on disinterestedness and the nature of human motivation offer a fresh perspective on our capacity for empathy and compassion, challenging us to reexamine our assumptions about the foundations of moral action. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format.
