Two final chapters are concerned with dinosaurs and marine reptiles, and fishes, trilobites, etc. Edwin Ray Lankester (1837-1939), palaeontologist and evolutionary biologist, was a professor at University College, London, 1874-90 and at Oxford, 1891-98.
