Zustand: Good. 1944. 129 pages. No dust jacket. Black cloth with gilt lettering. Pages and binding are presentable with no major defects. Minor issues present such as mild cracking, inscriptions, inserts, light foxing, tanning and thumb marking. Overall a good condition item. Boards have mild shelf wear with light rubbing and corner bumping. Some light marking and sunning.

Plaintext dustwrapper with black coloured titles to the front panel and black coloured titles to the back strip. Set during the early parts of World War II, in Africa where Rommel is on the march and the British are trying to decide whether to attack or retreat. Seen through various characters points of view  British, German and Italian  what it was like to be in the army and to face the possibility of death. Softening and rubbing of the back strip edges and of the book corners. There is a very slight cock of the spine. Light tanning and some foxing of the text block edges with age toning of the pages. Some staining to the top edge of the free front end page. The dustwrapper is in not great shape  please see photograph. Chipping of the dustwrapper corners and lower back strip edge. There is a piece missing from the top dustwrapper, including back strip measuring 4.5" x 1.34'; and, there is a hole in the back strip 4 inches from the top. Foxing and fading of the dustwrapper with a coffee ring present to the front panel. Numerous chips and tears to the dustwrapper edges with Browning and staining of the rear panel. Browning of the fold over panels and some foxing is also present as there is to the verso. Size: 12mo (Small Hardcover). IV, 132 pages, last three pages blank.
