Each front cover shows the Eiffel Tower, many illustrations in the text show the pavillions, exhibits, visitors, artwork etc. - Binding a little rubbed, only the back cover of the last issue loose with some tears, but the 143 pages and all 6 front covers fine and clean.

No Jacket. 12 1/2 inches x 16 1/4 in., color map of the 1889 Paris Exposdition Universelle; chromotypogravure fashion plate cover . 144 pp. + 2 maps, [146]pp., second color map at p. 58; a number of the illustrations are in color, some reproduce paintings, others items or scenes from the 1889 Exposition; black & white illustrations of the then new Eiffel Tower. Dark green leather spine, sides and corner-pieces, with titling gilt on the spine, and dark green pebbled cloth over boards, marbled endpapers. The spine hinges show some splitting, wear to the leather on the cover corners, edges, some damp or tanning to the flyleaves, a few splits to the fore-edge margins of the first map, some dust spots to a few page margins. This copy belonged to Cleveland, Ohio based book collector, William G. Mather (1857-1951), who was also associated with the Cleveland Museum of Art; this copy bears his bookplate on the front inner cover. A number of countries participated in the 1889 Exposition, and some of their products & artwork are pictured here. French text. Weight: 5 1/2 lbs. Postage may be extra on this item.
