Covers have some edge and corner wear, front cover with a couple of spots, spine slightly sunned. Binding is strong and square. Internally, ffep has a "25c" price in marker or ink that has bled through a bit to the front paste down. Pages uniformly toned, but clean and without damage throughout. Recording of a BBC interview with Amelia Earhart, done on May 22, 1932, the day after she became the first woman to complete a solo, nonstop flight across the Atlantic. Recording is in a pocket attached at the rear paste down, some offsetting to the rear end paper. A solid copy of this important first edition, with the uncommon recoding in the rear pocket. The Fun of It is Earhart's second book, following her travelogue 20 Hrs. 40 Min and the last to be published in her lifetime, in which she recalls her youth, early encounters with flying, career as a pilot, and feminine pioneers in aviation. Complete with frontispiece portrait, 31 illustrations and the rare original 78 rpm silvertone phonograph record recording of her internationally broadcast. New York: Brewer, Warren & Putnam, 1932. Publisher's original woven pink cloth, lettered in purple; pp. (xii), 218, [1 ads]. An about near fine copy in a very good, unclipped dust jacket. Binding remains tight, sturdy and square, minimal wear to boards with traces of foxing/sunning to extremities. Light offsetting to endpapers, else internally clean. Phonograph in the original pocket to rear pastedown, gold seal removed with a bit of residue to verso of phonograph. Jacket shows light general shelfwear, small chip to spine crown, a few closed tears, a bit of grubbiness to back panel. A very presentable copy, rare in the dust jacket.
