Textblock is unmarked except for a notation in period ink on the front title page. Very mild foxing, and bright pages turn effortlessly. A vintage label is affixed to the front pastedown from United Presbyterian College Library, yet no other library spore is present. Pagination is complete. A very nice antiquarian copy. Zustand: Very Good. Condition: Very Good -; Robert Freebairn, Edinburgh, 1715. Folios. Two volumes rarely found together! Speckled calf, rebacked at an unknown date. Volume one is considerably darker in color, and the original leather has begun to crackle-- both flaws likely due to the adhesive used in rebacking the volume. Despite the crackled/scaled pattern the leather is secure. Both volumes are well-rubbed, especially at the edges and corners. Corners are worn to board; some spots along the edges are also worn and friable, though on the whole the edges are in good condition and much of the original edge-tooling has been preserved. Gilt decoration and tooling from the first volume's spine have also been preserved, as have been the title labels for both volumes. Gilt is dulled but legible. The new spine of the second volume has been decorated with a simple, repeating fleur de lis pattern. Interiors are clean, with minimal toning or foxing. Toning/glue offset to the outer edges of the pastedown and flyleaf, front and back, aga.
