With the terrific heraldic bookplate on the front pastedown of German aristocrat George Augustus von Hammerstein, rendered as Geo. Aug. de Hammerstein. Hammerstein is recorded in a Masonic directory of the time as George Augustus, Baron of Hammerstein, Westphalia. With his (presumably) note of purchase written on the front free endpaper, "at London, 1763, 2 Schill. (shillings) [per?] Vol." Another small remark above the bookplate.The bookplate is a stupendous piece of engraving in a style that a techno enthusiast would appreciate. It is rare to find a contemporary annotation of this kind.

Finely bound in early 19th century full red morocco, black morocco label with gilt lettering, the back and covers richly tooled in gilt floral decorations, all edges gilt, ribbon marker. Very Good, joints showing light wear, boards rubbed at edges, gilt edges dulled a bit, end papers with light toning. A clean and handsomely bound copy. Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. Book.
