Synopsis: "Percy and Edwina, specimens of the rare anthropoid Hackenfeller's Ape, are lodged in the London Zoo, where they engage the interest of Professor Darrelhyde. A professional biologist, he hopes to witness the ritual of their mating. Edwina, from the first, is willing; but Percy, denied freedom in choosing his mate and thus inhibited from reproducing his kind in captivity, is precocupied with a mental struggle to apprehend Homo Sapiens -- represented for him by Darrelhyde -- and his predicament awakens in the professor a more than scientific compassion. The ape and the professor have established the rudiments of communication and friendshhip when the professor learns from a brisk young man that Percy, who is only on loan to the Zoo, is to be used in a rocket experiment from which he will not return alive. The professor, baffled in his attempt to save Percy by lawful means, has to ssek the help of Gloria, herself acquainted with prison bars. The two of them rescue Percy by night, at at dawn the ape, free, surveys the world of Homo Sapiens . ".
