It is a book that focuses on the purely industrial and dynamic business aspects of the companies covered. Offered here is Volume 1, only, issued as a large, quarto-sized hardcover (approx. 9" x 12"). It covers the following publishers : Encyclopedia Britannica, Inc.; Harcourt, Brace & World; Harper & Row Publishers; Holt, Rinehart & Winston; Little Brown and Company; McGraw-Hill Book Company; Prentice-Hall; Random House; Science Research Associates; John Wiley & Sons. The book has photographs of many of the chief executive of the companies, as well as clearly designed charts and graphs. Long out of print ( OP ), this seems to be the only copy for sale on line. DETAILS : Oversize hardcover; size = 8 7/8" x 11 7/8"(quarto); gray cloth-covered boards and spine, with gilt lettering, etc., on spine and front board - the front board; 51 pages, printed on calendered paper (glossy paper). CONDITION . This is a previously owned book which remains clean and presentable, with the following particulars noted : EXTERIOR - Spine extremities are compressed and display modest fraying; lettering on spine is somewhat rubbed, with some letters effaced, and the whole lacking brightness; the front cover has the title as well as displaying the various publisher's devices - all in gilt and fairly bright; fore-edge corner tips are bumped (more so at the top); the cover in general is moderately rubbed, with the rear cover displaying this with slightly more effect. - there is a bit of abrasion near the top fore-edge corner, and a touch of weathering along the top edge of the rear cover; text-block edges are mildly toned, else clear. BINDING - Solid INTERIOR - There are a few smudges to the end-papers, and a small sticker effect on the front free end-paper; there are a few small finger smudges through the book - not many and of little effect; the interior is basically clean and presentable.
