Soft cover. Zustand: Very Good. 1st Edition. Early 10th UK Bloomsbury softcover printing of Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, signed by J.K. Rowling on the title page. Number line 10; Copyright page credits Joanne Rowling with no space between Thomas Taylor and year; illustration of young wizard on the backcover. The book was signed in October 1998 at the Cheltenham Children's Literature Festival for a little girl who had been given the honorable task by the organizers to present a beautiful flower to J.K. Rowling. Due to the excitement, the child forgot to come forward for this after the reading and only handed the flattened and crumpled flower to a very endeared author during the subsequent signing session. A very good copy with some creases on the spine and some damage to the cover. The laminate on the front cover has partially disappeared, causing part of the text on the gold Smarties Award sticker to also fade. The binding is still firm, the pages have the usual toning but are otherwise in very good condition with no names, inscriptions, or other defects. The cover is now protected by a removable transparent archival cover, making the book look very neat despite the mentioned wear. Fully authenticated by J.K. Rowling signature expert Adam Houston of The Harry Potter Specialist. Comes with LoA and collector's card with interesting details. An early signed copy with a very charming history. Soft cover. Zustand: Near Fine. Grandpré, Mary (illustrator). 1st Edition. The copy presented here is a first UK paperback edition, 24th printing of Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone signed and inscribed by Jo in early 1999 'To Sam.' By this time Rowling had dispensed with using periods between J and K and had developed a more fluid signature allowing her to sign more books quickly in order to meet demand. Around this time Rowling was conducting many signing events at bookstores such as Waterstones and, because the Harry Potter Phenomenon had not yet taken off, she had more time to interact with fans and inscribe copies of books. This is an excellent near fine copy completely unread and with no colour fading, no creasing at all to the spine which is incredibly rare for this book. The page edges appear surprisingly fresh as these paperback copies are more often found with significant toning to the page edges due to the cheap paper stock used. The book still has a square and tight binding, some shelf wear to the edges and some minor creasing to the top left corner of the back cover. Internally, there are no ownership inscriptions or writing of any kind with no dog eared pages, folds or creases to any of the pages. The only minor flaw to the pages is some tiny spots of ink to the top right corners of the first few preliminary pages. Overall this is a fantastic copy with a beautiful bold signature inscribed 'To Sam.' The signature and inscription come fully authenticated by Adam Houston 'theharrypotterspecialist' the world's leading expert in authenticating Jo's signature. It comes with a full authentication package including a letter of authenticity and collector card. Inscribed by Author(s).

Hardcover. Zustand: Near Fine. Zustand des Schutzumschlags: Fine. 1st Edition. This Fifth Printing of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (the US edition of Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone) was signed with a black pen by J.K. Rowling on the title page on October 12, 1999, at Barnes & Noble in Natick, MA. The book was signed for the original owner, Heather Huntley, who attended the signing event with her father. The spine ends are slightly bumped; otherwise, the book is in Fine condition, with a Fine dust jacket. A yellow Post-it note with a waving wizard stamp on the verso of the signed title page, placed there by a Barnes & Noble employee to speed up the signing, is still present. Also included is the purple notecard stamped with a dragon that served as a ticket for the signing event. This fifth US printing was released only a few months after the first printing in October 1998, likely in early spring 1999. Early printings of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone that were signed close to the publication date are highly sought after and therefore scarce. Most of the signed copies from Rowling's 1999 signing tour in the USA are 22nd printings, making it exceptionally rare to find a signed fifth printing. This very nice copy includes a detailed, lengthy letter by Heather, recounting the day of the signing event, providing a beautifully detailed account from the perspective of a 15-year-old Harry Potter fan. Also included is the all-important Letter of Authenticity (LOA) from the world's only J.K. Rowling signature expert, Adam Houston of TheHarryPotterSpecialist, along with a collector's card. Soft cover. Zustand: Fine. First English paperback edition, early fifteenth printing of Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, signed and inscribed by the author ["To Amanda, Best wishes, J.K. Rowling"] on the dedication page. This copy features the very early signature variation when Rowling was still using periods to separate the "J" and the "K" in her signature. She dispensed with these in late summer of 1998 to create a more fluid signature. The book is inscribed to the original recipient and presents a lovely example of this rare signature variation. It has been fully authenticated by J.K. Rowling signature expert Adam Houston of The Harry Potter Specialist and comes with a Letter of Authenticity (LoA) and a collector's card with interesting details. The book is in very fine, unread condition. The boards are excellent, without fading and without the usual laminate issues. Only the lower front corner tip is very slightly pushed; the other corner tips and spine ends are still very sharp. The binding is very tight, and the pages are bright and clean, without inscriptions, names, dog-ears, or other flaws. A highly collectible copy of a very early signed and inscribed first edition. Soft cover. Zustand: Good. 1st Edition. Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone; first edition, twelfth printing, paperback; inscribed by the author 'To Plymstock School, J.K. Rowling'. The signature is a very early and highly collectable example of the author's signature with the periods still present after the 'J' and the 'K'; as the author speeded up her signature, the periods were gone by mid to late 1998. Being a much-used school book, the book has lost its laminate and has creases to the covers, particularly the front cover; the spine is sunned, with small splits to the spine foot. Page 9 has a small closed edge tear and light green ink marks to the page. The remaining pages are toned, but in good condition. Inside the front cover of the book is a 'Children's Book Award Tester' sticker - Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone won the award in 1998. Name in pencil to top of half-title page 'Plymstock'. First edition, ninth impression, paperback issue, inscribed by the author on the half-title, "to Neill, I love signing old books - especially if they look well-read, JKRowling". Despite the author's assessment of condition, this copy has certainly been read, but not well-read and is in very good condition. Both paperback and hardback issues of Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone were published on 26 June 1997. The ninth impression is sufficiently early to feature the original wizard on the rear wrapper and, of bibliographical interest, the gap between "Taylor" and "1997" on the imprint page is missing, and the error of "1 wand" has been corrected on page 53. The gold "Smarties Book Prize" design on the front wrapper is printed and no longer a sticker. Cf Errington A1(aa); Grolier Children's 100, 100. Octavo. Original illustrated wrappers, spine and front wrapper lettered in white, yellow, dark green, and black. Extremities a little rubbed with some minor creases and lifting of laminate, spine a little sunned, minor marks to fore edge; a very good copy.

With Letter of Authenticity from The Harry Potter Specialist (Adam Houston), who only specialises in authenticating JK Rowling's signature. This rarely-seen style of bookplate can be found in a few other signed Harry Potter books, including a third print hardback Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone put up for auction in July 2023 at Sotheby's auction house, London. Other examples exist - this was presumably a bookplate personally used by JK Rowling circa 1997 to 1998. The book come with a letter from the original owner and recipient - photos can be supplied. Marian - referred to by the author in the bookplate - is Jo's aunt Marian Fox. Book is in very good condition, with no sunning to the spine, which has no reading crease. Book is square and firm. First edition, twenty-fourth impression of Philosopher's Stone, and first edition, second impression of Chamber of Secrets, both paperback issues, each signed by the author on the dedication page. The twenty-fourth impression of Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone features the original wizard on the rear wrappers, while the gap between "Taylor" and "1997" on the imprint page and repetition of "1 wand" on page 53 have both been corrected. Although the publisher's imprint page in the second title is misleading, bibliographical research reveals that the paperback was published ten months after the hardback edition. Cf. It was the first edition to be issued in a dust jacket, which differs in colour tones from the dust jackets of all subsequent editions. The cover is in fine condition, with sharp spine ends and corners. The binding is tight, the endpapers are clean, and there are no marks, inscriptions, or stamps. [Fantasy] ALL FIRST EDITIONS, FIRST PRINTINGS, IN DELUXE BINDINGS, with the three supplemental works. Volume I SIGNED by the artist Thomas Taylor, in black ink to front cover. Together ten volumes, octavo (26 x 17 x 36cm). Original uniform harlequin cloth (7 vols), with gilt decoration, illustrations to upper covers, and all edges gilt (some in shrinkwrap). Additional volumes (3 vols) in publisher's illustrated covers. Volumes II to VII in shrink-wrap, as-new; volume one a fine copy. The deluxe issue is a larger format, in decorative cloth binding. Harry Potter's award-winning wizarding adventures have had an unrivalled impact in popular culture today; indeed, some experts have referred to adults between the ages of roughly 20-30 years old as 'the Harry Potter generation', who are seen to hold markedly different values to their parents. Harry Potter is a series of many genres, including fantasy, bildungsroman, and the British school story (which includes elements of mystery, thriller, adventure, and romance). According to Rowling, the main theme of the books is death - although prejudice, corruption, and madness can be seen as dominant motifs.

The author has hand-drawn a star after her name, a rare doodle addition from the author. The second print hardback Chamber of Secrets is a very rare impression, existing - according to Rowling's bibliographer Philip Errington - in a run of just 200 copies, making it much scarcer than the first print. The Chamber of Secrets is in very good condition, with no bumps to the boards and still sharp corners. Pushed spine foot; the book has a slight lean. Very clean endpapers; internally very clean, with no marks. No dog-eared pages and no tears. No ownership name. Text block is clean, but toned as is usual.
