Near-contemporary half calf with replacement pale-tan faux leather spine over which a sizeable remnant of the original; the remnant heavily rubbed, with hardly visible gilt title and rules, loss at foot and significant loss to uppermost of five compartments. Original marbled paper-covered boards also heavily rubbed, outer corners worn and rounded. Replacement white endpapers, owner signature dated Sept. 1930 on front pastedown. Additional title - and to lesser extent & effect margins of frontispiece opposite - a little grubby, being toned towards edges and dust- & handling-marked. Remainder of contents lightly toned towards edges, occasionally sparsely spotted, with a number of dust- & handling-marks mainly light and confined to fore-edge margins, and with a few creased corners and corner tips. Marbled edges of text-block age-toned and rubbed, top edge also a little dust-soiled. Binding shabby in appearance, but holding firmly; contents tight and for the most part clean. A fairly GOOD copy.
