Author George Pitt-Lewis was of the Liberal Party and sat in the House of Commons from 1885 to 1892, almost exactly the duration of Lopes' time as Lord Justice of Appeal. Pitt-Lewis refers to Lopes as Lord Justice multiple times throughout their correspondence.
