Auf der Grundlage zahlreicher Quellen und eingebettet in den allgemeinen Forschungskontext der Geschichte des Bürgertums sowie der Bildungs- und Kulturgeschichte untersucht Thekla Keuck am Beispiel der Familie Itzig einen der transkulturellen Prozesse, der die mitteleuropäischen Juden unter dem Einfluss der Aufklärung aus der Abgeschlossenheit des traditionellen Judentums in den Raum der modernen europäischen Gesellschaft führte.
