Kerouac often wrote on occasion in French or joual, Chapter XXIX an imaginary dialogue between Kerouac and Memere in French. Kerouac speaks of Cardinals as silk stocking full of mud of American congresssmen who "shine and stink like rottten mackerel in the moonlight" When you realize Jack is very close to Burroughs and Ginsberg and like them he will become "an agent provocateur of great changes for anauthentic human revolution.".
