First Edition, 1950. A Fine hardcover copy in black cloth stamped in dull bronze gilt, in a Near Fine Plus jacket, not price-clipped, unfaded, with a bit of rubbing to front flapfold. This copy is INSCRIBED by Buechner "for Pat [Alfred A. Knopf Jr .], except for whom I'd never have found my happy way to A.A. K. Inc., thanking him for that & more besides" and signed "Fred". The inscription is undated. A Long Day's Dying was Buechner's first book, and Pat Knopf was at this time working in his father publishing house. 267pp. A happy association indeed.
