Thomas Hampson, BaritonBeim Pittsburgh traf ich auf ein hochprofessionelles und sehr gut vorbereitetes Orchester, das die gleiche Auffassung von der Interpretation hatte wie ich. Zudem ist es ein Klangkörper mit einer beeindruckenden Tradition und einem herrlichen Klang. Was mir aber besonders auffiel und was mir sehr gefiel, war die Art und Weise, wie das Orchester als Ganzes funktionierte. Wie ein großes Kammermusikensemble. Hélène Grimaud, PianistinJa, dieses Orchester war ein Geheimtip. Und ist es lange Jahre geblieben, weil es nicht das Publikum hatte und weil es auch im Ausland nicht so berühmt war, wie das Chicago Symphony Orchestra, das New York Philharmonic oder das Boston Symphony Orchestra. Ich gerate immer noch ins Schwärmen, wenn ich an den wunderbar tiefen Klang des PSO denke. Sir André Previn, ehem. ChefdirigentDas PSO hatte immer die besten Chefdirigenten und das merkt man in jedem Moment. Die wunderbare Kunst der Musiker, Woche für Woche, Konzert für Konzert, ihre Bereitschaft und ihr Können auf allerhöchstem Niveau abzurufen, ist schon beeindruckend. Sir Gilbert Levine, DirigentFür mich ist das PSO das beste Orchester überhaupt. Es verkörpert eigentlich alles, was mir als Musikerin wichtig ist: Musizieren auf höchstem Niveau und eine hochprofessionelle aber sehr freundschaftliche und warme Zusammenarbeit mit den Kollegen.Alexandra Thompson, Cellistin beim PSO.
