Large book is tight, square, relatively sharp-cornered and free of major flaws or markings inside and out, other than some minor spotting to front, fading to spine. Nice tipped-in b/w frontispiece and patterned endpapers. "A typography reference at its finest, printed in black, vermillion and green. Tipped on frontis illustration. Includes sections on book publication as well as foreign language and school book styles, and commercial printing. The layout is such that each two facing pages shows the complete layout for a book or other publication, displaying all the typefaces and ornaments, etc. carried by the Mergenthaler Linotype Company. Orcutt's son worked for Mergenthaler during the 1920's, when this book was published".

Fine except for very minimal rubbing to corners, spine edges, and head and heel, not through cloth. 9 1/4 x 12 1/4 inches. 256 pages.
