Fair (heavy shelfwear to boards, front cover is loose, age toning to pages but text and illustrations are otherwise clean.).

Hardcover. Zustand: Fair. Needs rebinding. Contents fine, unworn and unmarked, but binding split between p.168 and p.169. A couple of cms. of paper loss to foot of front endpaper. Only the marbled, quarter leather back cover and gilt-titled leather spine persist; the front board is missing. Contents separated from remaining board and from spine.

Bound in quarter black morocco with marbled boards and end papers; head and tail caps as well as hinges are neatly restored; some rubbing and wear present to extremities. Original wraps are included. The outer edge of the front blank fly-leaf is chipped with a small tear repaired. Interior pages are clean; a short crease along with two small marginal tears (neatly sealed) are present on the outer edge of p. 375. A tiny marginal tear is also carefully sealed on p. 377. Contains a history and discussion of ornamentation and decoration in medieval manuscripts.
