A PROPOS : Philip Kolb, né le 29 août 1907 à Chicago et mort le 7 novembre 1992 à Urbana, est un universitaire américain spécialiste de la correspondance de Marcel Proust. Philip Kolb commença à étudier le français à la "Culver Military Academy" à l'âge de seize ans. Philip Kolb choisit la correspondance de Marcel Proust comme sujet de thèse pour son doctorat (Harvard, 1938). Il ne réalisait pas alors que c'était un vaste sujet qui demanderait 21 volumes et plus de cinquante ans de recherches.

Superficial area of loss approximately 5 mm by 5 mm to top corner of fore edge of front cover. 1 cm closed tear to head of spine. Top and inside edges of back cover lightly tanned. Overall, the book is in a good to very good condition. Very scarce first edition.
