Mann is most famously known for being the biographer and acquaintance of Deborah Sampson (1760-1827), a Massachusetts woman who disguised herself as a man to serve in the Continental Army for 17 months during the Revolutionary War, being the most famous instance during the conflict. Mann would later further publicize Sampson s life in The Female Review, which documented her wartime experiences. COLH1813CKLX-0823-aj0416.
