Princess Louise was retired and hauled from Vancouver to Los Angeles to be moored at Terminal Island in Los Angeles harbor. It became a very popular restaurant for a time, open for business from 1966 to 1989. This children's menu comes from its early days. Very good condition with an interior tear on front panel, a scuff, some discolorations on the rear panel.

Olive green cloth covered boards with heavy gilt decoration reproduced from an ancient Irish bronze book cover now in the British Museum in London. Light edgewear and soil, and lightly sunned spine with fraying just starting at both ends. Binding is very tight, with heavy stiff pages. Interior moderately toned, with scattered light foxing and small soil spots and smudges. Previous owner name (James J. Molloy) to limitation page, with a short inscription to another individual (Maurice Courtney). Limitation page has some vertical creasing near the gutter. "Foreword" sheet is laid in loose. The menu pages are titled "Menu", "Wines", "Music", "Toasts", and "Officers". Gorgeously illustrated with color and monochrome plates; some are photogravures of Irish landmarks, others are reproduced from ancient Irish illuminations. Compiled, designed and executed by the Schultz Printing Works of Cincinatti, Ohio. Unpaginated.

First edition of this marvelous menu for the "Eye of the Needle" restaurant which opened at the 1962 Seattle World's Fair, featured a 14-foot-deep carousel dining floor revolving on a track and wheel system, and was before it's closure for remodeling in 2017 the oldest operating revolving restaurant in the World. The original Eye of the Needle which operated until 1979, before becoming the Emerald Suite (1980-1999), served Washington State fruits such as apples, Dungeness crab legs, Prime Rib, Puget Sound Salmon filet, and had a fair wine selection.
