Octavo, pp. [i-iv] v [vi] [7-8] 9-343 [344: blank] 1-8: ads, original green cloth, front and spine panels stamped in black, spine panel stamped in gold, all edges trimmed, top edge not stained. First edition, probably a later issue binding. Comic linked stories set among the London working class, told in a rambling, bantering to…ne by the narrator, an educated writer. Lyons was a friend and biographer of Robert Blatchford, another writer and influential Socialist, and one of the founders of the Labour Party. Lyons' "thirteen volumes of fiction 1902-1937 are light stuff; the best known is COTTAGE PIE (1911)." - Kemp, Mitchell and Trotter, Edwardian Fiction, p. 252. A very good copy. (#114164).
